PINNACLE OF ULTRALIGHT PACK DESIGN:
The updated Ultra 200X & UltraGrid Kakwa 40 boasts a larger front pocket (nearly 2x volume), drain holes, custom Durston Gear logo buckles, additional lash points, and a variety of small refinements to further improve durability. The Kakwa 40 design is informed by Dan’s thousands of miles of backpacking experience, resulting in best-in-class load carrying, usability, quality, and durability – all while weighing a mere 28 oz / 795 g (ULTRA™ 200X) to 29.6 oz / 841 g (UltraGrid) for a medium pack.

LOAD CARRYING AND COMFORT:
The Kakwa 40 uses an inverted U-shaped frame built of hollow aluminum that is a more efficient use of structural weight and provides a rigid core with both vertical and horizontal structure. This frame connects directly to the hipbelt for optimal load transfer and directly to the load lifters, which are rare on packs this light yet essential for shifting more of the weight off your shoulders. Carefully developed S-shaped shoulder straps contour around your upper body, while the hipbelt uses a dual strap design to cup your hips and has reverse pull leverage for easy tightening.

The result is a pack that comfortably and effectively manages loads up to 45 lbs, all while weighing just 28 oz / 795g (Medium / Ultra 200X) to 29.6 oz / 841g (Medium / UltraGrid).

CHALLENGE ULTRA™ 200X – THE ULTIMATE TEXTILE:
UltraGrid is a nylon-based pack fabric that features a ripstop grid of UHMWPE fibers for added durability and a waterproof PU coating. This fabric offers a smoother feel, a tighter weave, and a more affordable price point.

In a class of its own, ULTRA™ 200X represents a new paradigm in durability and weight. ULTRA™ 200X weave is constructed with an optimal blend of UHMWPE & high-tenacity polyester. The tight weave is laminated with an eco-friendly adhesive to their revolutionary Challenge RUV™ film. The result is a textile that is incredibly strong, lightweight, and waterproof to 200 psi. The updated "X" version incorporates a tougher inner film for added durability.

Simply using a tough fabric is not enough if the pack has weak points in the stitching or supporting materials. That's why the Kakwa 40 is fully double stitched with heavyweight thread, and features the same ULTRA™ material for heavy wear points like shoulder straps, hipbelt pockets, and sided pockets. The front pocket is composed of durable knit mesh that won’t stretch out.

EFFICIENT POCKETS:
Efficient access to your gear while on the move is a hallmark of good pack design – and the Kakwa 40 delivers. Collectively, the Kakwa’s suite of pockets is carefully thought out and refined to enable rapid and efficient access to everything you need on the move. Four types of pockets optimize on-the-go access to most essential items:

  • Hipbelt pockets with a generous shape easily accommodating snacks, sunscreen, or headlamps.
  • Dual top opening shoulder strap pockets provide an ideal spot for your phone, sunglasses, or bear spray.
  • QuickPocket provides an easily reached, concealed compartment in the side pocket for large items like hats, mitts, or large sized phones.
  • Mesh front pocket for largest items like jackets and even cookwear – Hike all day without opening your pack.
HIGH STANDARDS, WITHOUT EXCEPTION:
The Kakwa 40 is made in the epicenter of high-quality outdoor product manufacturing, home to factories that produce tents and packs for the top brands in the world. The factory that produces the Kakwa also produces some of its top competitors from well-known companies such as Arcteryx, maintaining the highest level of materials sourcing, construction techniques, and testing with all the packs it produces.

    A Beta Worth Rooting For
    Format: Kindle
In Spare, Violet Fox flips the omegaverse on its head, giving us a Beta heroine determined to make her mark. Joining the Beta Trials to support her sick father, she's thrown into a pack that doesn't want her, especially the possessive Alphas. But here's the twist: their sweet Omega turns out to be her scent match. Cue the angst, forbidden tension, and a slow-burn romance that will make your heart ache in the best way. Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

    Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
    Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

    A familiar story, just with…..less.
    Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

    Good start to a series
    Format: Kindle
I delayed reading the series for reasons I don’t remember. But my TBR list is huge so I thought I’d take a shot of this and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think the blurb about it was anything special. But it was a very good book. It took some interesting twists and turns. I am so glad the second book is already out. Because I would not have waited patiently. Very slow burn but good storyline. 🔥🔥/5

    A good read
    Format: Kindle
Multiple points of view. 3 Alpha men and an Omega male. She is a Beta in training for a new program placing betas in Alpha/Omega packs. Mila is only doing the program for the money to take care of her dad. She wasn't expecting to fall for a pack but when she sees this packs Omega she is done for. There is just something about him. His Alphas are good looking as well. Too bad she is hiding a secret and their government is acting shady. I liked it and can't wait to see where their story goes.
